Summary: Board Policy DEAB (LOCAL) states under "Workweek Defined":

"For purposes of Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance, the workweek for District employees shall begin at 12:00 a.m. Saturday and end at 11:59 p.m. Friday."

The administration is recommending that CISD change the definition of the workweek to read:

"For purposes of FLSA compliance, the workweek for District employees shall begin at 12:00 a.m. Sunday and end at 11:59 p.m. Saturday."

With the new definition, the District is aligning the workweek to more closely resemble the public's understanding. It will eliminate any confusion in planning and calculating overtime for CISD non-exempt employees.

This new definition shall be implemented by September 1, 2022 after Board approval and ample notice to all CISD employees.
Budgetary Impact: If approved, there will not be a budgetary impact.
Recommendation: Recommend the adjustment to DEAB(LOCAL) to read: "For purposes of FLSA compliance, the workweek for District employees shall begin at 12:00 a.m. Sunday and end at 11:59 p.m. Saturday."
