Summary:

The District is attempting to recover 40 high school students who chose not to come back to school for the 2021-2022 school year. The unenrolled students (Leavers) would not agree to the following options when they were contacted by District staff to enroll in school:
• Did not agree to enroll in traditional classes or traditional Bridges program
• Did not agree to enroll elsewhere (another school, CAN academy, homeschool, etc.) before Friday, September 24, 2021.
Several of the students stated they are now working during the day and aren't interested in returning to school during the day.
The District Dropout Recovery Committee would like to offer an additional option for those students still living in the area. We are preparing to seek your approval to submit an Optional Flexible School Day Program to the Texas Education Agency for approval. The flexible school day option will allow the District to expand our existing Bridges program.
We would like to offer a 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. option and a 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. option to the Bridges program at the Crowley Learning Center.
The Texas Education Agency typically takes 30 days to review the program plans submitted by school districts, once the school board has granted approval to pursue an Optional Flexible School Day Program.
